Day 1. Arrival in Prishtina – Airport pick up & welcome dinner.
Your adventure begins once you land at Prishtina airport where our representative will be waiting for you and to transfer you to the hotel. By evening, we meet once again for a welcome meeting and dinner at 7 pm. If you’re going to be late, please inform the hotel reception. We’ll be collecting your insurance details and next of kin information at this meeting, so please bring it with you. If you can’t arrange a flight that will arrive in time for the meeting, you may wish to arrive a day early so you’re able to attend.
Day 2. Prishtine, Mitrovica, Prekaz, Peja.
Ancient historic, cultural, religious, natural and Archaeological exploration Gracanica Monastery (UNESCO Protected heritage, Marble Cave of Gadime (natural mystery), Ancient Ulpiana (one of top Roman town II A.C), Bazzar Mosque (the oldest Mosque in Kosovo) Clock tower, Ethnographic Museum (300 years old Ottoman house), Yugoslavian Obelisk of Brotherhood, New Born, Heroinat Memorial, National Library, St. Teresa Cathedral. From Prishtina we head to Mitrovica city sightseeing, we visit the famous bridge over the Iber river which divides the town, we visit the mineral museum to introduce the under-earth of Kosovo. Day 3. Peja – Deqan, – Gjakova.
We start the day with a brief walk in Peja to get to see the main landmarks city bazaar, Patriarchate of Peja, ethnographic museum, waterfall of white Drini and move to Gjakova. Characteristic Old Bazaar of Gjakova, Hadum Mosque, Sheh Emini Tekke, Albanian Kulla (towers) in Isniq / Deqan, representing Albanian Authentic architecture, Monastery of Deqan Visoki, UNESCO Heritage. Day 4. Gjakova – Bajram Curri – Valbona Valley.
After breakfast we, we cross the border to Albania to reach the Valbona Valley before noon. We first drop our luggage at the guest house, taste an authentic lunch and have the day long to enjoy fresh air, paranoiac scenario of rigid rocky hills of Valbona, green meadow, Albanian towers, fascinating waterfalls and so on.
Day 5. Lake Komani – Shkoder.
After the tasty breakfast in Valbona, we make our way to the terminal of Fierza Lake. By 13 pm we’ll board a ferry to reach Koman Lake, in the remote north eastern corner of the country. It takes around 3 hours of sail and along the way, you’ll feel the stunning scenery of high rocky cliffs on both sides of the narrow lake which makes up the ‘Albanian Fjords’. This is one of the most beautiful boat rides you will ever take – crystal water merging with the green vegetation dotting the bright white cliffs. Upon arrival to Koman port, we move forward to Shkodra, one of the oldest cities of Europe which stand as the Albanian cultural capital over centuries. Overnight in Shkoder.
Day 6. Shkoder – Tirana
In the morning we will deliver an enjoyable walk along the Pjaca – the main pedestrian street – lined with 19th-century architecture and dominated by Ebu Beker Mosque. Then we climb north of the city to visit the Venetian era Rozafa Castle, set high on a mountain with panoramic views of the Shkodra lake and landscape Rozafa Castle it’s the epic landmark of Shkodra which intrigues a local history. Afternoon, we leave Shkoder towards the capital which its biggest city, compact and quite diverse with architectural influences from Italy and Turkey. We enjoy a walk of central Tirana, to visit the most important landmarks, the Skanderbeg Monument, the mosaic on the National History, the Et’hem Bey Mosque, which sits right on the city’s main square. Day 7. Tirana – Berat
We start the day with a comfortable journey to Berat known as a “city of one thousand windows”, and has been declared as a museum city. It is built on the slopes of mountain Tomori, on very characteristic architecture of houses, various buildings with a dominating castle overlooking the city. We let you make sure, why, Berat presents Albanian Architectural pride. Also, we don’t skip the chance to visit famous Onufri Museum, with outstanding paintings and iconography from Albanian master painters. In the old part of the town we visit several Byzantine churches known for their inspiring architecture. Diner and overnight at Hotel Mangalemi. Option activities: since we have the half day free we advise to try some optional local activities to get the best of the town. You may visit the Cobo winery to try some authentic local wines.
Day 8. Apollonia – Vlora – Saranda.
After breakfast in Berat our tour will continue to the Archaeological Park of Apollonia, visiting nearby monastery of the XIV century, Church of St. Mary and ruins of ancient city of Apollonia of Illyria which was founded at the beginning of the VII century BC, by Greek colons. The site displays lots of exemplary of antiquity and witness a pre-historic civilization: there fortification wall of the city, the Prytaneon, the Bouleterion, the big and small Stoas, the Odeion, the Theatre, the Nympheum and many more. By noon we drive south along the spectacular Albanian Riviera. Soon we arrive in Vlora the city of Albanian Independence, major seaport and tourist resort. We have an interesting visit and to see the Independence museum. Then, we keep our way driving up through Alpine Llogara Pass to experience the dramatic landscape. En route we pass the castle of Porto Palermo, located near Himara, also known as the castle of Ali Pashe Tepelena. Alongside the road you may observe several beautiful coastal villages like, Borsh, Qeparo, Himara and Dhermi, which are the most well-known for enchanting beaches. Anyway we stop briefly in local eatery in Himara or Dhermi Beach for refreshment. Finally, by evening, we arrive in Saranda for free afternoon and dinner. Overnight at Butrinti Hotel in Saranda.
Day 9. Saranda – Butrint – blue eye – Gjirokaster.
Morning in the coastal Saranda, it’s really impressive and relaxing. Have a lovely breakfast and start exploring Saranda, the Lekursi fortress overlooking the Corfu Island and Monastery. In addition, we continue to the ancient city of Butrint, another UNESCO World Heritage site, considered the best archaeological site in Albania and one of the most important in the Balkans, dating back 2500 years. In the ruins, there’s an Amphitheater of the 3rd century, the temple of Aesculapius, the large Baptistery from the 6th century, acropolis and colorful mosaics. It affords an impressive view around and Butrint is truly one of the last unspoiled natural and ancient historical spot in the Mediterranean. After exploring Butrint, we move our the way north to Gjirokaster, which takes around an hour travel. On the way we stop to experience Blue Eye, water spring as one more natural phenomenon which deserve our attention for exploration and having lunch there. Soon after we are supposed to be in Gjirokaster an UNESCO heritage city, described as a ”rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate”. Exploring this stoned-houses town, cobbled stone street, old bazaar it really takes you back on time and provide you an existing experience. Once we reach our Hotel, to leave the luggage, we reserve the afternoon, evening and overnight in here, exploring the main landmarks of the city, experiencing local life, old tradition , brand bazaar, castle, local food and wine.
Day 10. Osumi canyon – Korca- Pogradec.
In the morning, we depart from Gjirokastra taking the inland road towards Osumi Canyon often as people describe it ‘Albanian Colorado’. For 2.5 or 3 hours we have the chance to explore the spectacular canyon of Osum, river, Bogove waterfall and Progoshi Cave. Afterwards on the way to Pogradec, we stop and greet the sympathetic town of Korca for lunch at local restaurant with a local beer and a bit of city walk. Last part of the day take us to Progradec, stretching over the Ohrid lake. It’s definitely exiting place to spent an evening and overnight next to the one of the oldest lakes in Europe.
Day 11. Pogradec – Durres – Kruje.
After breakfast, we drive to Durres – the ancient Greco-Roman port city of Dyrrachium. Formerly called Durrazzo, Durres is one of the oldest towns in Albania. See the Byzantine city walls, Roman amphitheater and the Archaeological Museum. After Durres we can not leave Albania without visiting and enjoying emblematic town of Kruja. It hosts the most legendary landmarks of Medieval Albania. We visit its castle, and Scanderbeg Museum. Kruja was the most important town for the Albanians during the 15th century. It successfully endured three major sieges by the Ottoman Empire. The museum we will visit, is dedicated to the Albanian medieval hero Gjergj Kastrioti Scanderbeg. Besides history, the town is distinguished for local food and winery which undoubtedly are going to try in of many authentic restaurants. In Kruja we have some time reserved for shopping in large bazaar of Kruja, to see enormous local handicrafts, souvenirs and other local item with national or traditional items. Out of the town, before leaning Albania stop to see the statue of former American President George D. Bush. After noon, we cross the border to Kosovo to stop in Prizren, for overnight.
Day 12. Durres – Prizren – Prishtine.
After breakfast we go for a walking tour which encompass the main sights as Head to Prizren, Walking tour to Prizren, To see the Hamam, Tekke helvetie, Leviss Church, Catholic church, St. Gorge church, Sofi Sinan Pasha mosque, stone bridge, Albanian League of Prizren, Gazi Mehmet Pasha mosque. Day 1: Prishtina and surroundings.
We start the day with an interesting walk around old and new town of Prishtina, witnessing the best of our historic, encompassing cultural and ethnographic heritage such as Bazzar Mosque (the oldest Mosque in Kosovo) Clock tower, Ethnographic Museum (300 years old Ottoman house), Yugoslavian Obelisk of Brotherhood, New Born, Heroinat Memorial, National Library, St. Teresa Cathedral.
